Design Notes
The full titanium Kite gravel fork is quite unique. It employs the latest 3D printing production methods to create a proprietary fork crown and dropout. These are welded to custom drawn fork blades and a tapered titanium steerer with the welds then being smoothed back to create a fork with beautiful lines, fabulous ride quality, and incredible versatility.
It's slightly longer than the average gravel fork, which combined with our crown gives clearance for up to 700x55 (29x2.1") tyres, or 48mm with mudguards. However, snappy handling is retained by virtue of a greater than typical amount of fork offset. This means the fork can be retro-fitted to many current gravel bikes and maintain similar handling qualities.
This versatility is further enhanced by having two variants available, one including additional mounts on the fork blades for racks and/or bottle cages. The other is just clean, with mounts only for mudguards and an internal dynamo cable.
The rack mount version is quite considered. There are two mounts on the outside of the blades with a 64mm spacing - so a standard bottle cage (or whatever else fits that mount standard) can be fitted. However, this is also positioned so that the top mount can be used in conjunction with the threaded boss on the underside of the fork crown to fit a 'rando style' mini front rack for use with a bar or decaleur mounted bag. Additionally, the lower mount is complemented by a corresponding mount on the inside of the fork blade, and is at a 165mm distance from the dropout mount to allow for use of a Tubus Duo lowrider
In keeping with our design philosophy throughout the range - the Kite Ti fork uses an externally routed brake hose/cable. If the bike ever needs disassembly for maintenance, travel, or to swap in another fork - it is a simple matter.
The brake mount standard is flat mount, but for use with either a 160mm or 180mm rotor. This rotor size provides ample braking power for loaded touring up to a combined rider and luggage weight of 120kg.
